The controller of BBC Radio 2, Lesley Douglas, has resigned over the prank calls involving presenters Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross.
Ms Douglas said the decision to leave her job was "mine and mine alone" and made it with "enormous regret".
The broadcasting head tendered her resignation to BBC director general Mark Thompson this morning.
