Budget airline Ryanair is to offer flights to the US for eight pounds, by buying planes from struggling rivals.
The plan will be revealed when chief executive Michael O'Leary announces the firm's quarterly results on Monday.
"Economy class will be very cheap, around 10 euros, but our business class will be very expensive," he said in a newspaper interview.
I’ve flown this airline. Eight GBP for the ticket, then if you want to board the plane that’s extra, luggage…extra, use the head…extra, read a magazine…extra, get off the plane…extra. I think I bought a ticket once for about $50 and by the time I arrived it was nearly $1000.
Well yes. That's why it's called a "no frills" airline. If you want to get from A to B really cheaply, that's how you can do it (and take your own sandwiches, magazines etc). If you want "full service" you shouldn't expect to get it for 8 pounds. The costs of baggage handling, drinks, food etc are already more than that.
Cheap bastards. Next time I'll bring my own Don Perigone.
