Fourteen people rescued by the fire brigade after being left dangling upside down from a Berlin fairground ride last summer for nearly an hour have been slapped with a hefty bill, a spokesman said Monday.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

This is ridiculous!

My answer to this would be to forward their little bill right back to them enclosed with my pay stubs showing how much taxes I pay and tell them to consider themselves compensated! I would also throw in a request to be reimbursed for the money spent to even get on the ride!!!

I know that the Germans pay a very high tax. A lot of the people are already protesting because they are having to pay more for college tuition and are having a harder time getting funding for it as well. (They pay for college in the form of their taxes for those that may not be aware. Taxes also covers the majority of healthcare and supposedly emergency agencies.) I am wondering when the rioting or protesting for this will start.

This is ridiculous. Hanging upside down for 44 minutes would constitute an emergency. The blood rushing to the brain like that as well as the possible stress on bones and joints depending upon how the person was restrained can cause some very serious and lasting injuries. Depending how high up they were, their lives were even at serious risk.
