The neice of a British government minister slit her young lover's throat before telling police, 'I am a monster', a murder trial heard today.

Jessica Davies, 30, attacked 24-year-old Frenchman Olivier Mugnier at her Paris flat while high on drink and prescription drugs.

Davies allegedly lured Mugnier into taking part in a violent sex game just hours after meeting him for the first time at a bar.

French police believe the killing in November 2007 could have been inspired by the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.
