Eight schoolpupils were injured after a gunman took potshots at them while they were on their lunch break.

The man blasted the air rifle at the teenagers on a high street close to the Auchinlek Academy in Strathclyde, East Ayrshire, Scotland, this afternoon.

Eight youngsters were taken to hospital although all had suffered only minor injuries in the incident.
