I hope the puppy is taken away from him, he obviously does not deserve a pet.

Even though it looks really bad, puppies have loose skin on their backs for their parents to grab in order to carry them. The skin would make this less painful. I'm not saying that this was at all acceptable but hopefully it is some sort of consonance for people appalled by this. I think the kid is just a dumb teenager who did it to be funny, not hurt the dog. I still think he is getting what he deserves though, hopefully serving as a reminder to anyone else thinking of potentially harming an animal. This is not nearly as bad as some other things that I've come across but no less disturbing.

You can pick up a puppy with your hand like that... this isn't really all that different.
Was the picture funny?.... yes
Was it in bad taste.... possibly
animal cruelty?...... hardly

I would be the first person to pounce on animal cruelty, but this barely makes the mark. I think this guy was just playing around. HOWever anything that give anyone a bad idea, such as hanging your puppy by their skin on a clothes line is a very BAD idea.... And yes the puppy looked sad. I would be kissing it to death....
